OPEN LETTER TO PMB
By Abbati Bako
Sir,
Advice On Fighting Corruption
With utmost respect, I write to offer some advice to H/E president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari. The agenda H/E set to fight corruption is (absolutely) on the right path. No patriotic leader around the world that will allow corruption to kill his people and the nation. Nigeria is among the top ten corrupt nation on earth. And corruption had eaten deep into the fabric in Nigerian nation. For long the structure of the nation had been badly damaged by the past 16 years rulership of PDP. But what bubbles in the mind of experts is what will be the way out?
Your Excellency, you set up a team of legal experts to guide and offer advice to you on how to eradicate or tackle corruption. But no team for political experts to guide and offer advice; and the whole issue is about politics (governance). And political governance have time limit and timing is very important in political strategy. If one can not calculate his agenda and programs base calendar time frame, the failure is eminent.
Sir, this writing advice that the presidency should form a vibrant political team that will set agenda and design a path way that will eradicate (or firmly control) corruption in Nigerian body politics. Otherwise, Nigeria will continue to move at a very low level in democratic political governance in comparison with the other global emerging democracies in northern part of the world. Because, everything is politics in the world (from the family governance, community, district/L.G.A's to the state, nation and to the united nation level---International Public Policy I.P.P) these are the reasons why we called politics as "mongreal craft".
Second, most of our laws have been outdated considering the digital era and globalization policy that control the planet earth. Your Excellency, the legal team of Professor Tsage must give guide and offer advice on how to reform our judicial system; so that can move at the same level with the other global emerging democracies. The political and legal team must put heads together to design some lobbying ways that will see through all the laws reform at the N/A.
Third, the trial of corrupt politicians, civil servants and other economic stakeholders must be given limited time to finish. Otherwise, the political democratic transition will be in peril. Because the citizens will loose confidence in the system. And once the people of the nation lost confidence in the system truncation may set in. Subsequently, if Nigeria's democracy truncate; that will affect not only Africa's democracy but the whole northern part of the world may be affected.
Your Excellency, conclusively, this writing advice to build special prisons in 6 geopolitical zones (specifically) for the corrupt officials. This will serve as an evidence and lesson for others to see. This should be done in a hurry.
Sir, many countries around the world jailed their leaders for corruption charges. Italy, Pakistan, and Israel just to mention few are perfect examples. You can not jail the criminal and allow the principal criminal to go free. So, jail anybody that has been found corrupt no matter whatever his position in the past or present; that is justice! H/E said it several times that "if we didn't kill corruption, corruption will kill us". Therefore, corruption must be eradicated or at least be brought under control.
Economic team is also part of political strategy in a nation. Economy is ultimate and it must be given priority. So, economic team will give guidance and advice on how to prosper economically. In a country where there is no viable economy and freedom of want; insecurity will be the number one problem. Therefore economic strategic plans must be prioritize to dominate the west African sub-region and African continent; then the entire northern part of the world.
And again, the appointment of Special Assistant to the house of representatives is not enough. H/E should form a team of lobbying experts that (for over 150 years the lobbying system has been in practice in Japan, USA and other advanced democracies) will always plan and strategize for all the bills and other interest and ambition of the Presidency. Your Excellency Sir, this writing advice that all the APC governors nation wide, law makers at the federal and states, chairmen and Councillors at LG - levels should be directed to imitate and act the way H/E did in fighting corruption. Otherwise, fighting corruption will be a mirage in Nigeria. Your Sincerely,
Abbati Bako, psc,UK (Political Strategy Consultant IPRC)
